Booking Officer- The duties of the Booking Officers are to enter all of the inmate's information into the computer system, daily activity log, schedule visitation, workers commitment log, distribute medication, fill out jail docket, meal lists, file and maintain records, answer the telephones, pass out commissary, moniter incoming and outgoing mail,and write bonds upon inmate's release.  They oversee the areas where inmates are housed and to inforce the housing unit rules.  The ultimate duty of the officers is to provide security for the jail.  The are in charge of opening and securing all entry and exit doors in the jail.  The officers are responsible for the internal movement of the inmates, feeding the inmates, and searching the inmates.  To obey and follow all direct orders given by the supervisor.  Most importantly, is to maintain safety and protection for everyone - staff and inmates.

Booking Procedures- The Itawamba County Sheriff's Department services a daily inmate population of approximately 40 individuals.  All of these individuals must go through the booking intake process.  Each individual received is processed the in the same manner:
         *Searched
         *All property taken, logged, and bagged
         *Processed through the identification process (photos, etc.)
         *Medically screened for obvious injuries - medical treatment given if needed
         *Booked and advised of their charges and means of release if any
         *Given a phone call
If unable to secure release, they are placed in an appropriate housing facility and given the following items:
         *Starter Hygiene Kit
         *1 Flat Sheet
         *1 Fitted Sheet
         *1 Blanket
         *1 Mat
         *1 Cup and Spoon
         *1 Suit of Clothes (Shirt and Pants Supplied By Jail)
         *1 Pair of Shower Shoes

Telephone Calls- Every section within the facility has access to their own telephone.  Phone are not turned on before 7:00 a.m. for security reasons.  Shut off time may vary depending on the section individuals are housed in and could be as late as 10:00 p.m.  To set up a Telephone Account with Infinity Networks, call 1-866-681-2948.  They will provide an 11 digit pin number, this number must be provided to the inmate.

Inmate Mail- Inmates may send and receive unlimited correspondence.  Postage paid envelopes and paper for writing are available for inmates to purchase through the canteen.
Incoming Mail Must Have The Following:

Outgoing Mail:
                     All outgoing mail is stamped as coming from our institution. 
Outgoing and Incoming mail will be inspected for contraband or security breaches with the exception of legal mail.  When necessary, legal mail will be opened in the presence of staff.

Acceptance of Inmate Funds- Inmates are not allowed to have any currencies in their possession.  Under NO circumstances will an inmate while in court accept anything from family, friends, or attorney.
The following are the only accepted forms of currency through the mail only:
                   Money Order, Money Gram, and Bank Check.
Posting Bail Procedures- Anyone wishing to post bail on an individual incarcerated at the Itawamba County Correctional Facility should follow the below process:
     During the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. all bails are to be processed at the Itawamba Correctional Facility.  There is a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) process fee paid directly to the correctional facility. (For this service, cash ONLY is accepted.)

Release Procedures- The primary function of the Record's Department is to insure the proper and timely release of all individuals in our custody.
Types of Releases:
     *Cash Bond
     *Commercial Bond
     *Paying Fine Requirements
     *Expiration of Sentence
     *Revise and Revoke
     *Release to Treatment Programs

Upon release, the individual's canteen account will be closed and a check issued for their balance.  If an individual is released at court, they must return to the House of Correction to pick up canteen funds and/or personal effects.

"Expiration of Sentence" releases generally takes place between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
