Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Itawamba County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to uphold the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Mississippi, maintain the integrity of the criminal justice system, and to protect and serve the people of Itawamba County by investigating crimes against persons and property, prosecuting criminals, and protecting the peace and dignity of those whom we serve.  We strive to be above reproach in our actions, compassionate toward mankind, but relentless in pursuing those who prey upon the weak and innocent.
The Itawamba County CID investigates all felonies including, but not limited to, murder, rape, burglary, aggravated assault, identity theft, and computer crimes.  The investigators of CID use their combined experience, training and education diligently to serve the best interests of the citizens of Itawamba County.
Lt. Chris Umfress has been a full-time certified officer since graduating from the MS Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1994.  Lt Umfress is a MS State Certified Criminal Investigator as well as a PATC certified Hostage Negotiator.  Lt. Umfress holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Mississippi.

Catain David Little has been a Law Enforcement Officer since 1992.  Cpt. Little is a graduate of the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy.  Cpt. Little is also a graduate of the Criminal Investigator Program and is a Mississippi State Certified Criminal Investigator.
