Itawamba County Justice Court handles all misdemeanors for the county. We also handle traffic tickets for the Sheriff's Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Constables, Game and Fish, Department of Transportation, and Itawamba Community College.
The Justice Court Clerk is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The clerk, Dianne Umfress, is the administrator of the court. Justice Court Judges and Constables are elected from their respective districts, but Judges and Constables have county wide jurisdiction.
Justice Court has "civil jurisdiction" up to $3500.00. All cases are filed with the clerk's office and transfered to the judges.
